About Us
WE ALL UGLY
There's beauty in being honest about it.
Scroll for five minutes and you'll see it: the highlight reels, the perfect angles, the version of life everyone wants you to believe is real.
WE ALL UGLY started as a refusal to play that game.
We believe honesty is more valuable than perfection — that the things you're tempted to hide aren't the things that disqualify you, but the things that make you human. Your flaws, your wounds, your unanswered questions, your contradictions — they don't erase your worth. If anything, they're proof you're still in the process of becoming who you're meant to be.
Through clothing, storytelling, events, mentorship, and community, we create space for people to be honest about what they're carrying — and to find out they're not carrying it alone.
The clothing is the conversation starter. The mission is bigger than what we wear.
Where It Started
Before WE ALL UGLY became a brand, it was a personal realization.
For a long time, I felt like I had to hide the parts of myself that didn't look good — the doubts, the mistakes, the things I was still working through. Like everyone else had it figured out, and I was the only one still struggling.
But the more honest I got — with myself, and with the people closest to me — the more I realized nobody actually has it figured out. Not the people who look like they do. Not the people who seem to have it all together. Everyone is carrying something.
That realization is what brought me back to Romans 3:23 — that all of us fall short, no exceptions. Reading it wasn't about feeling ashamed. It put words to something I'd already been living: no matter who you are, what you've done, or how put-together your life looks from the outside, every person carries the same brokenness. We're all in it together, whether we admit it or not.
That's the real heart behind WE ALL UGLY. I wanted to build something that didn't just sell clothes, but created space for people to be honest about that shared brokenness — and to discover that admitting it is actually where real connection starts. Deeper than style, deeper than creativity, deeper than anything we make.
Our Story
I'm Adrian Cantero, founder of WE ALL UGLY.
The idea was born on an ordinary day, walking through Fashion Valley Mall, surrounded by luxury brands selling a version of life that looked flawless and felt completely out of reach. That night I opened my phone and saw the same thing online: filtered photos, curated moments, everyone's "best life" on display.
Something about that didn't sit right with me.
Not because people shouldn't celebrate good things, but because it felt like there was less and less room for people to be honest about what they were actually going through.
I wanted to build something different. Something you could wear that said: your worth isn't tied to your image, your money, your status, or the highlight reel you post online. Something that reminded people they're allowed to be seen — not the polished version, the real one.
The Name
WE ALL UGLY came together on a car ride, brainstorming with friends in the earliest days of the brand.
I'd always admired how brands like DGK weren't just selling clothes — they were carrying an identity, a community, a story bigger than the product. I wanted WE ALL UGLY to do the same.
The name felt honest the moment it landed.
Not "ugly" as an insult — ugly as in human. The parts of us we don't put on Instagram. The insecurities, the pride, the fear, the wounds we don't always have words for.
This was never about shame. It was about freedom — the freedom that comes when you stop pretending you have it all together, and realize none of us ever did.
Built From the Ground Up
Once the name clicked, we got to work.
I designed our first logo in Photoshop. With no money for a real print run, I taught myself to silkscreen print in my room — printing, messing up, reprinting, packing orders by hand, learning everything the hard way.
My brother Josh jumped in early, doing whatever needed to be done — printing shirts, making stickers, packing boxes, shipping orders — and slowly became a real part of building this with me.
But what stood out wasn't just that people liked the clothes. It was that the name started conversations. People would ask what it meant, and those conversations went somewhere real — honesty, identity, the stuff we usually keep to ourselves.
That's when it became clear: WE ALL UGLY was never just about clothing. The clothing was the invitation.
More Than Apparel
Today, WE ALL UGLY is growing into something bigger than a brand — a community built around honesty, creativity, and real connection.
We still make clothing. But the heart of what we do has grown to include storytelling, creative projects, community gatherings, mentorship, and real-life experiences — especially for young people looking for a place to learn, create, work, and grow.
We've seen what happens when a brand becomes more than something you wear: it becomes a place where conversations start, relationships form, and people feel known — not for the image they project, but for who they actually are.
What We Believe
Honesty is more valuable than perfection.
Every person carries both beauty and brokenness — and one doesn't cancel out the other.
Your flaws don't erase your value.
Clothing can carry meaning.
Community can hold space that social media never could.
You are more than what you own, how you look, what you've done, or what you're still working through.
WE ALL UGLY is for anyone caught in the tension between who you've been and who you're becoming. For the ones tired of pretending. For the ones who want something real.
The Mission
Our mission is to create clothing, stories, experiences, and community that remind people they're not alone in their imperfection.
We're not here to sell perfection. We're here to create something honest — and to remind you that being honest about who you are isn't a weakness. It's where freedom starts.
WE ALL UGLY. There's beauty in being honest about it.
